Snow Emergency Levels

Press and media

Snow Emergency Levels shows, in one place, the current snow emergency level or travel advisory of every county we cover, read from official sources and checked every few minutes during storms. Newsrooms may use, embed and cite it for free.

What we cover

  • Ohio: all 88 counties have a page; 6 sheriff sources are read automatically, the others link to the official source.
  • Indiana: all 92 counties, from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security travel status map.
  • Minneapolis, MN: the city snow emergency and the parking rules of the current phase, Minneapolis page.
  • Saint Paul, MN: the city snow emergency and the parking rules of the current phase, Saint Paul page.
  • National Weather Service winter alerts for every county.

Use it in your coverage

  • Live maps: the Ohio snow emergency map and the Indiana travel advisory map update by themselves. You may show screenshots on air or online with the credit below.
  • Widget: put the live status of any county or city in your article or weather page with the free widget.
  • Data: current statuses as JSON, CC BY 4.0, described on How we collect data.
  • History: each county and city page lists recent snow emergencies, and we can share season figures on request.

How to cite

"Source: Snow Emergency Levels (snowemergencylevels.com), from [official source]", for example the county sheriff's office. Please name the official source too: we only relay what officials declare.

Good to know

  • We are an independent website, not affiliated with any government agency. Declarations are made by sheriffs, county emergency management agencies and cities, not by us.
  • Every page shows when we last checked the official source. If we cannot confirm a status recently, the page says "Status unknown" instead of showing an old one.
